The Liverpool Santa Dash is pleased to be supporting the following charities, for more information on them please click the logo.

redcrossThroughout the UK and overseas, the British Red Cross provides desperately needed help to people in crisis situations, whoever and wherever they are.
We are part of a global network of volunteers, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies.
We enable vulnerable people across the world and in the UK to prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help them to recover and move on with their lives.
The money raised form the Liverpool Santa Dash will be spent locally in the Merseyside community. Without funds, the British Red Cross would be unable to provide any of the valuable services that we do daily in Merseyside. We are always looking for ways to form partnerships and gain opportunities to maximize the required income that allows our work to continue supporting the local people of Merseyside.
If you can help or want any further information please call Alexis Fairclough on 0151 702 5061 or visit our web site www.redcross.org.uk.  Registered Charity No. 220949

Weston SpiritThere are thousands of young people who need support.  Some are vulnerable or at risk, out of work or being bullied.  Others may have turned to crime, drugs or alcohol.  Many need help on their journey to adulthood.  Often it can feel like they have nowhere to turn.  Thankfully they have.

Weston Spirit is a youth charity that supports the personal and social development of young people aged 13-25, from all walks of life across Merseyside and the UK. Co-founded in 1988 by Falklands War veteran Simon Weston OBE, the charity’s range of youth programmes and activities are effective, interactive, challenging and fun, enabling young people to build confidence and self-esteem, gain essential life skills and positively move forward.

DiabetesEvery 5 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with diabetes.

Over 2.2 million people in the UK currently have diabetes and there are a further 750,000 people who have the condition but are completely unaware of it. Diabetes is serious - if left untreated it can lead to blindness, limb amputation, kidney failure, heart failure and other life-threatening complications. As a charity we are always working to increase awareness of diabetes so that people who are at risk can get tested.

Diabetes UK is the organisation for people with diabetes. We stand up for the interests of people with diabetes by campaigning for better
standards of care and funding research to improve the treatment of diabetes and to find a cure. We also provide practical information and safety-net services to help people manage their diabetes better.

All money raised at the Liverpool Santa Dash will be spent on diabetes research. Diabetes UK receives no government funding and relies entirely on donations and subscriptions to fund its many projects and research into the complications of diabetes.  It is only with support such as this that we will ultimately be able to find a cure, whilst in the meantime help those who live with diabetes every day.
