Comments on the Women’s 10K
Hello Alan I just thought it would be nice if I wrote to say thank you for organising the 10K. I ran it yesterday and really enjoyed the route around the park- it was just lovely. I had to enter on the day as my application didn't make it through the post and even that was really easy and straight forward. Are the results printed in The Echo tonight do you know or is there any way to tell where I finished? I forgot to look at the clock in the excitement of actually finishing the bl**dy thing!!! I was No. 2121 Again, thanks v much, am gonna download a form to do the Santa Dash and maybe the tunnel run too!!!! Lucy Tindsley Hi Alan After writing last week with all my questions I thought it was only fair that I should write and tell you what a fantastic job you did with the women's 10k yesterday. I found the route was really well planned and gave plenty of space to run freely. The whole day just seemed to run smoothly and seemed so well organised. Even the weather stayed dry! And wow to have Gok Wan to start it was amazing. That made my day seeing him! Thanks again for a brilliant job and I'm already looking forward to next years. Helen
Dear Alan,
I have taken part in 7 womens 10k events and found that yesterdays was a farce. Having not competed in the race for the past 3 years due to having a baby, I was very disappointed at how the race has changed...one being the start of the race...no one there to countdown...the quality of the t shirts are very poor, I have t shirts from 7 years ago and they are as good as new, I can't see this one lasting for more than one wash! The water station at 5K...with yesterdays heat I would have thought more water stations would have been available to runners and last but not least the sponsors "worst kept secret" pulling out at the last minute do we get a refund of thier fees as you have quoted on your website equivalent to £4.00 per entry??? What a great marketing ploy for Worst kept secret free advertising! regards Tracy Jones What a fab day!!! Well organised and lots and lots of fun… But in response to the disgruntled runner a few entries below. I have to say, isn’t it the participation that counts? – not the free t-shirt!!! And to ask for a refund of the £4.00 fee is terrible, maybe Ms Jones should read the reason why WKS had to pull out and that it actually ended in redundancies. However, A big thanks to Alan and his Marshalls a great route and a great day…. Loved it!!! Karen Billington Hi Alan Just a quick comment. I travelled from the Midlands with my friend as we both love this race. The weather was lovely the run was hard but we both enjoyed the day it was harder than other years because of the heat. My only complaint was that we missed the music and banter that you got when running out of the park on the roads. But saying that it was two happy, tired ladies travelling back to the midlands. Joan PRIZE COMMENT. Mandy Organ ran the Women's 10K with her friend Pauline. Pauline has cancer and you can see by the message she left me she and her friends really enjoyed the day. It puts into perspective the comments about wanting water at 2K, poor quality t shirt and all the other 'trivial' matters on race day. A fantastic achievement Pauline. Very well done indeed. What do the rest of us have to complain about?? Alan Thought I should email you to let you know what a Fantastic day we had on Sunday (I emailed you last week to swap to the 5k because I thought my friend Pauline would not be strong enough but my friend was adamant she was going to do the 10k) We all had a FAB day Pauline says it was one of the best days in her life. We were all so proud of her she finished the 10k and looked amazing. She was overwhelmed with all the support she received and the atmosphere on the day was great, just what she needed. One of the photographers took a photo of us all together and I wanted to purchase this photo can you direct me to the relevant person. Thanks again for making it such a memorable day we also raised over £600 for the Royal Marsden. Mandy Organ |
