GETS OFF TO A FLIER AFTER A HECTIC OFFICIAL OPENING DAY ON 16th AUGUST

The 'runliverpool' initiative is teaming up with the new Up and Running store in Bold Street, Liverpool. The national chain store which has 27 other outlets across the country, opened its doors to the running community on August 16th and reported brisk business straight away.

The 'runliverpool' initiative which delivers seven race events and is  currently based in the David Lloyd Leisure Club in Speke will shortly be relocating to the store. Alan Rothwell from 'runliverpool' said ... "the tie-up between the store and the events programme is a fantastic arrangement for all concerned. Being based in the city centre makes us more accessible, especially for entries to races after the closing date! I have enjoyed our three years in David Lloyd but working with Up and Running is too good an opportunity to turn down."

The new store has a great range of shoes, clothing, books and all kinds of running products - but more importantly it is managed by runners! They also have two treadmills and a full Gait Analysis facility permanently sited in the store. The staff are all experienced runners and will be happy to advise on any aspect of running. And if they can't answer your question then they will certainly know someone who can!

In addition there is a runners community section within the store where you can pick up a wide range of event information and even study the local race routes. And with 'runliverpool' on hand, all the event bases are covered. You can call into the shop for entry forms for most races, seven days a week.

"most people know Liverpool for football or the Beatles but we identified the strong running community and the excellent programme of races as key factors in coming to the city. With 'runliverpool' on board we hope to help improve the profile of running on Merseyside - and that can only be good for  runners."
