Liverpool Women’s 10K
& Bully Busters 1 mile Fun Run

The
22nd staging of this very popular event will be on Sunday, 11th May
2008. With the new 5K run getting off to a great start it will
complement the Bully Busters 1 mile Fun Run creating a truly family day
out.
The course worked well last year and
with the start and finish on the Review Field, the spectator levels were up, adding to a fantastic atmosphere.
A great event for experienced runners and novices alike.

WOMEN'S 10K TIMING!
Now that the Final Race Instructions are landing I have received a couple of e-mails about the timing situation this year. The reason that there is no electronic timing facility is directly related to the withdrawal of £12,500 worth of sponsorship by Worst Kept Secret some four weeks ago.
This was due to the reduction of funding granted to Local Solutions who manage the WKS initiative. The more serious outcome of that decision resulted in redundancies from their organisation and as a consequence WKS were unable to fulfil their sponsorship obligations this year.
Having raised the matter with Liverpool City Council (who technically own the event, L1310K simply
delivers it) it was established that no further funding was available for the event. Consequently the electronic timing had to be dropped when assessing where savings could be made. Other than that there will be no difference in the delivery of the race.
On a positive note I would consider the possibility of new sponsors for 2009 to be beneficial for the event overall and this would allow for the reintroduction of electronic timing and other improvements as well. The search for new 2009 sponsors has already begun.
