It was my first time doing anything like it and I got a great personal buzz for completing it. I would like to thankyou all for giving me this experience and it was an excellent day. The set up and professionalism was outstanding and its the best money I have ever spent. I know a lot of hard work went into making yesterday possible and it was a very well run event. Thanks again and I look forward to running in some of your events in the future! My race number was 4079. Can you let me know when I could get my time? Many thanks Jonathan Ellis From: "dave wood" Date: Mon, 30 Mar 2009 10:13:00 +0100 To: alan.rothwell@btconnect.com Alan It was my first half marathon yesterday and what a great event it was, well organised throughout and wonderful weather, couldn't have been better. Is there a link to the results? I cant seem to find them anywhere on the website. Many Thanks David Wood From: "Jack Miller" Date: Mon, 30 Mar 2009 10:10:58 +0100 To: "alan" Subject: Liverpool Half Yesterday Hi Alan, In a time when everyone complains generally I wanted to send you an email to say what a great event I thought yesterday was. Everything in terms of the course, the start, the finish, the buses, the products – everything was excellent and made for a great day – you even managed to sort out the weather! And when people start to complain about cost, I have an example, I ran the Omagh Half Marathon in Northern Ireland the previous Saturday and it cost me £20. There were no pacers, roads weren’t closed anywhere, water at three stops in plastic cups and very cheap t-shirts. Now it was a local half marathon and I thought that actually it was fine, but the difference in standard for £4 is incredible and all credit to you and the guys who organise it. Shame about the Underground 10k as I had my application about to go! I would also join you for the Tunnel Run but it clashes with the Edinburgh Marathon. See you soon, thanks again for yesterday. The course was great and the waterfront start/finish looked brilliant in the fabulous weather. This was the first organised run that I have taken part in and I was keen to do it as part of my Edinburgh marathon training. A great first experience for me of a competitive event. Well Done! In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we may come again next year!! Do you think you could check my result, my bib no on your results show me as 311 with a time of 1.49. I think my no was 1388 with a chip time of 1.47. Thanks. Bill Swift of Penby Runners. The course was really enjoyable, so thanks to everyone for all the organisation this must have entailed. The increased cost was worth it! And the pacers were a welcome addition. From: Robert Cushion Date: Sun, 29 Mar 2009 14:36:32 +0100 To: alan.rothwell@btconnect.com Subject: Liverpool Half Marthon Hello, the race on Sunday was a bit of farce, the start of it no starter at to set us off, and then as we were ment to exit the Albert Dock, some clever buunny at parked car right cross the road were we ment to run towards however, were where directed away straight on. We were then called back and told yes you have gone the wrong way, no suprise their was big iron gate looking at us after running back we all pushed on to walk ways clipling people and running around post boxes and what have you. Come on this needs sorting every year their is a cock up and again this year their was another cock up. Their are lads that went to Wilmslow instead, because of the constant cock up's on this race, their people crossing corners, half sleep marshalls who dnt really know which way we were ment to run so it was just case of following the crowd. Sorry to be so blunt though their are people who denied PB's and a fair run today. Local the Liverpool Half Marathon as a really bad reputation and needs putting right, I appreciate your job is hard enough, though if your paying as much as we did for this race then you expect it to be organised properly. At least when we got to finish you would expect the annoucer to issue an apology for the cocks up, no at all dnt want to know. Please sort this out Liverpool as great reputation for such events, though the events of today are spoling it ? It was my first half marathon and I clocked a respectable 1:24. As a scouser, the thing I am most proud of is the amazing people who lined the route, cheering everyone along. Superb! I'll be back next year. All being well I shall definitely be running it again next year and shall recommend it to my running club to be introduced as one of our club championship races. All the best and good luck next year. My 21 year old daughter ran a PB and I ran a good time after 2 years of injury. I ran for the 5th time. What a fantastic new course, so scenic and traffic free. Could it be used as a 2 lap marathon course? So convenient to start and finish in Albert Dock. It was my first half marathon and was a pleasure to run in. From my point of view it was runner friendly, well organised and there was a very friendly atmosphere. I would particularly like to thank the volunteers around the course and at the water stations for their efficiency and positive attitude. Well done to all and I will be entering next year once my legs have recovered Mike Cavanagh From: james stronach Date: Mon, 30 Mar 2009 19:22:40 +0100 To: alan.rothwell@btconnect.com Subject: liverpool half Hi Alan just like to say that the course was a good choice as the views were good all the parks. along the bank to finish off was great and mostly traffic free also the drinks were in good supply. The only thing i found at the finish area at the end was full of spectators i do the glasgow every year and they have the finish closed off for the runners only it helps to keep it clear so you can get the runner filtered out easier. the weather was perfect regards james stronach From: gillian laragione Date: Thu, 2 Apr 2009 16:08:17 +0000 To: alan.rothwell@btconnect.com Subject: half marathon Hi, thank you for organising the half marathon. That was my third one and best ever. The route was fab and the crowds that gathered to cheer us on were great. I really enjoyed it. I spoke to a lot of runners from out of town afterwards and everyone had nice things to say about the new route and the city, it made me feel really proud to be part of it. Thanks again, really appreciated, Gill From: Bob and Maggi Sent: Wednesday, April 01, 2009 5:32 PM To: 11310k@yahoo.co.uk Subject: The Liverpool 1/2 Dear Alan I am the 65+ woman, who ran your lovely race this past Sunday. Thank you for such a wonderful running experience. I was awake frequently the night before as I do not know your city and I was worried about getting lost. Your volunteers and the ever present cones kept that from happening. The volunteers towards the latter part of the race were particularly helpful and encouraging. It was a great way to see all the beautiful parts of your city. I really like Liverpool and look forward to visiting again. How you managed to arrange for that weather, given the days before and after, is particularly impressive. I must also thank you for being so accepting of a “turtle” runner like me. I run as fast as I can, but it still takes me 3+ hours to finish. But all your volunteers were there and smiling as if I were the 50th runner or something. Please tell them thank you for me and how much I appreciate their being there. I know how long a race can be for those who stand there. I am part of the Cape Cod Marathon Committee, held every year in Falmouth, Massachusetts. There are hundreds of volunteers and we each have our responsibilities. I make it a point however when my job is done to go to the finish line and wait for the last runners to come in. I know how long a wait it can be, but I know as well, how hard some of us turtles try and how proud we are when we finish. Thank you again for allowing us to do so in Liverpool. I represented the Falmouth Track Club in the race. I am sharing my experience with our runners and will encourage them to think about a run along the Mersey at some time in their running career. Thank you again Maggi Yates PS. Unfortunately, by the time I finished, all the t shirts were gone. If by any chance an extra one shows up, would you please consider sending it to me. Thanks. I would just like to add to some of the comments that you have already had about the run on Sunday. It was my first run of that distance and i really enjoyed the experience although i found the last mile very hard, but the encouragement i got off the other runners was great. I still managed to post 94 mins, which I felt great with. Thanks for the chance to run locally. Keep up the good work. thanks again. vinny brocklehust bib number 781 |
